Developer Michael Pavone has just released version 1.0 of BlastEm: An emulator that supports Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, Game Gear, SMS and even some rare ones like the Sega Pico. BlastEm has been widely regarded over the years for its accuracy and was one of the few software emulators that can even handle “blast processing demo’s”, so seeing it expanded to more consoles is exciting. Michael included some pretty technical stuff in this release that’ll be great for developers and content creators! You can emulate model-specific hardware quirks, there’s an Oscilloscope View, VGM logging and a new media player mode that can play VGM files along with WAVE and FLAC files. There’s also “Video” recording (APNG + WAVE), which I’m curious to try.
Future goals for the project also include emulating the Teradrive and at the LaserActive’s Sega-PAC. That sounds pretty cool, but as-is, BlastEm supports a lot of sega platforms! Here’s a full list of currently supported consoles:

- Yamaha Copera (OPL3 emulation missing, but all known games are playable)
