Diablo 3 Season 40 Release Date - Latest News

Diablo 3’s Season 40 revisits a different set of seasonal mechanics from the ARPG’s past between its start and end dates, giving us more reasons to hop back in and slay scores of demonic and angelic foes while we collect powerful gear. Here is everything we know about its release date and content.

With Diablo 4 and Diablo 5 absorbing the bulk of Blizzard’s resources, the third entry in the series (first released in 2012) trudges along, giving its dedicated community regular opportunities to revisit its best content from previous years.

Diablo 3 Season 40 Release Date

Diablo 3’s Season 40 was finally unveiled by Blizzard at BlizzCon 2026, and we have a release date that’s not too far off.

Detail Information Diablo 3 Season 40 Start Date October 2, 2026 at 5pm PDT/CET/KST Diablo 3 Season 40 End Date January/February 2027

Diablo 3 seasons usually last for approximately three months. They generally start on Fridays and conclude on Sundays, although we have had exceptions to this rule in the past.

Diablo 3 Season 40 Content

Blizzard has now revealed the Diablo 3 Season 40: Light’s Calling content and rewards. For the most part, it’s all recycled from Season 22 and other older chapters, but there some twists and updates are coming too.

“Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!”

A full rundown can be found straight from Blizzard, but it’s a long read, so here’s the quick version:

  • Light’s Calling returns: Nephalem can recover Angelic Crucibles (consumable items) to Sanctify Legendary items, giving them “one of three new class-specific powers at random”
  • Season 16 rewards return, with brand-new portrait frames, the Wings of Lempo, and the Taennin the Tiny pet added too
  • New stash tabs; one each season after finishing the Conquerer tier, “up to a maximum of five”
  • New seasonal challenges
  • New seasonal conquests
  • Rotating Haedrig’s Gift sets making a return: Horde of the Ninety Savages (Barbarian), Aegis of Valor (Crusader), Gears of Dreadlands (Demon Hunter), Patterns of Justice (Monk), Mundunugu’s Regalia (Witch Doctor), Typhon’s Veil (Wizard), Masquerade of the Burning Carnival (Necromancer)
